well, you and chris really have the coziest house ever. i think i would feel better about winter if ross and i had access to our WHOLE house and not just the first floor and our bedroom. it gets to feeling kinda cramped when you can't go outside. also we have no fireplace and that is LAME with a capital lah.
If you can handle the drive to the boonies, you should come up and visit us sometime this winter! We'd love to share our fire! And Lord knows we'll eventually be craving adult interaction :)
As for the cozy bit - thanks! We strive to make our home cozy and inviting!
Our kitchen, on the other hand, is more or less an icebox all winter because of the crappy insulation in the ceiling and floor. We keep the thermostat at 50' just so we don't waste gas. When we do stoke up the stove in that part of the house, we can keep it at a good 70', but otherwise it's really no fun to be in there! Our food gets cold fast, too :P
it is expected to be in the 40's and low 50's while you're here.:) nothing stuck this afternoon. it snowed...but it wasn't a REAL snow. you may never-the-less want your boots.
meh. we didn't get much. just flurries blowing across the roads and nothing sticking. it's alright. they are predicting lots of snow for us this year. i will get plenty of changes to cross country ski.
i was pretty much living in the chanhassen dinner theatre the last couple days during changeover. if i wasn't hanging from the rafters, i was curled up in a quiet, dark corner sleeping. we even ordered pizza so we didn't have to leave the theatre.
in an immaculate bit of timing, i happened to run out to my car just before sunset. it was snowing the gentleist bit and the sun poked it's nose below the clouds for five minutes before it went to bed... but for those five minutes the sky and clouds turned those stunning sunset colours and every snowflake was a bright fluttering star. prettiest gorram thing i've seen in a very long time... i just stood there and reveled. i'm glad it only lasted five minutes... it was really cold and i didn't bring my jacket.
things haven't slowed down for this little peasant since july. i'm looking forward to hibernating for a little while...
gots lots o projects to keep me out of trouble this winter.
i've gotta figure a way to hang out with y'all sometime soon, it's been too long. call if'n you get a chance, i can guarantee i'm not going anywhere for a week... *splat*... it'd be good to chat.
i would very much like that, but things are just STARTING to get busy for me. i've got two master's level classes and a full time job and xmas shopping....and company this weekend for the tremere event. the week after that i will be going with ross to FL for 4-5 days and a badly needed rest. maybe after we get back we can set up a time?
if it weren't for the fact that i haven't recovered from a roadtrip yet, i'd be jealous about florida... actually... yeah... still jealous. *grin* safe journeys and safe home again.
i would just love for you to move near us! this is a great area to live. the twin cities are very "alive" in a spiritual sense. in some places (like northern va, where i am from), the land is groggy and sluggishly accepts the change of season. minnesota is dynamic. the land embraces each new season almost before that season is upon it. you can feel it forcefully manifest each season. the difference is the same as the way that coffee is very much coffee and cranberries are very much cranberries and old people are very much the way they are....but chicken and tofu can kind of taste like anything and people in their twenties can wiffle waffle about what they want to be.

Date: 2007-11-07 07:28 am (UTC)In fact, right now, I'm missing anything even mildly resembling a real winter or fall. This place is so frustrating, on that level.
