Date: 2009-02-17 08:10 pm (UTC)I'm a fairly thin woman and I have issues with them.
They don't tend to be proportioned normally, Usually I
need to buy a size bigger and then trim it down in the
bust and waist to get the correct hip size.
Also sometimes they are NOT at all measured correctly.
We just had an issue where my friend got a patter
supposedly her measurements, cut it out, and it was
a good inch too small.
I maintain that sizing for both manufacturing and patterns is
slightly haphazard just to make us all insane.

Date: 2009-02-17 09:13 pm (UTC)Everyone thinks I'm insane for planning to make my bridesmaids' dresses AND my own wedding dress, but I'm looking forward to it. And since I'm starting NOW, with eleven months to go, I'm working on the assumption I'll have plenty of time to do it all without getting stressed. :)
