really my favorite thing is that the shadow from my camera makes it look like he's flying in the second picture. :)

ridiculously easy to make. it took me about...6 hours total and some of that was frogging til i got the right width for the body and some of that was going to the store for buttons.
and the pattern is free. and here (http://community.livejournal.com/knitting/3760537.html?thread=33564569#t33564569)

alas, i do not forsee being in the same place anytime soon.
but then, my sewing skills are absolutely zero in all areas, so it probably wouldn't help.

i was refering to the fact that all forms of sewing, including knitting, are foreign to me.

then what would be the group name for the various crafts of making stuff out of fabric, thread, yarn, etc?

that's a really good question.
you could technically call it all needlecraft/needlework...but that really references sewing and embroidery more.
i personally put knitting, crochet, tatting, spinning and weaving in an entirely separate category called fibercrafts or fiberarts (some of it really is art).

interesting...personally, i would put them all in the same category, with various subdivisions, as i don't think you can avoid the commonality of attaching textiles using textiles to make stuff (as opposed to glue or something).
