i decided not to read finnegan's wake. at least not for now. i have a hard time buying the idea that any story is worth that much work. but i also found an online version that is annotated so you can decipher all of joyce's wordplay and nonsense.
i still have to finish foucault's pendulum, but i am also still enjoying it.

it was interesting and kept my attention, but that's about it. for something better (and still exotic) i prefer harafish by naguib mafouz (sp?) or the ground beneath her feet by salman rushdie. both very good.
your opinion?

I read God of Small Things for a class, and ironically enough, am about to start reading it in 2 weeks for another class. It is a great piece of lit...

As far as Naguib Mahfouz(sp), try "Children of the Alley". Midnight's Children by Rushdie and Satanic verses are also two MUST reads...

No opinion -- it's sitting on my to-read shelf, and I haven't gotten to it yet. It came highly recommended from a couple of people, I was just hoping you'd be yet another. :)

gotcha, yeah....i recommend it, but i find it on about the same level as "the secret life of bees." it's worth reading. it was too good for me to consider it popcorn, but not challenging/unique/funny/exciting enough for me to rave about it. i have pretty high standards.

if you click on them, they will take you to a cite that does them for that writing na-no-wri-mo thing. but you can really use them for whatever you like. it will use the numbers you tell it to, create the code and you can just copy-paste it into your entry.
