more nightmares...
Jun. 21st, 2006 11:49 ama few nights ago i dreamed that i had an infected sore on my right leg about the size of a quarter (that part is something that actually happened when i was in junior high). i was afraid to lance it, and rightly so. when i did it was not only full of pus but also full of exceptionally large maggots! it was utterly foul and frightening because i didn't know how they got in there. i spent the rest of the night dreaming that i was cleaning my leg with tissues and flushing the result down the toilet. i woke up afraid
the second dream was two nights later and even scarier. i was in bulgaria near some castle ruins (probably daywash from reading the historian) and clouds of fire filled with...something like bats or insects...kept falling from the sky and immolating people. the bat/insects gave the fire something LIKE volition of it's own, so that it could steer a little and they made this chirring noise that was really frightinging. it was like an insect's chirring, but more indicitive of small chitinous parts, like the creepy feeling of a spider or a cockroach crawling on you. and the clouds of fire full of them would rush down out of nowhere and burn people up. sometimes only part of them - that was worse.
so i was running to hide and trying to get people out of the building and then i got this bird's eye view of where this fire was landing there was a streak of it across the mountains like a backwards "y", but it only told me where we needed to get people away from, not any insight into why or how this was happening. i woke terrified that it was real.
ross was next to me, but i didn't wake him. he really needs his sleep right now.

Date: 2006-06-21 05:32 pm (UTC)I have had my share of nightmares too. Sometimes I am afraid to go back to sleep because they might re-start (and 75% of the time they do). Reading that someone else can get really frightened by them makes me feel like less of a dork.

Date: 2006-06-21 05:43 pm (UTC)my fear of dreams is directly proportional to how much i believe them. i can almost always tell i'm dreaming, but the knowledge seems to be on some sort of grayscale...in terms HOW aware i am that it is a dream. through most of that scale, i can take hold of a dream and change it so that it is less scary or so that i react in some really cool way....
but every great once in a while i have a dream that is so real that i can taste it, smell it and feel it in all 4 dimensions. by 4 dimensions i mean that even the passing of time feels real. some of them were so complete that i think a write-up would have a 100% chance of getting into a gothic horror magazine if i were a better writer. those are the true terrors, complete with sweat upon waking.
