I really like case closed. It's hard to find anime that doesn't feature giant robots or sword fights.

I really reccommend "Cowboy Bebop". You read the descriptions and go, "Bounty hunters in space? No thank you...." But if you watch it, you'll notice it has the most wonderful jazz and blues soundtrack, giving it an incredible film noir feel, and the (eventual) four main characters are all people you can care about.

I watch very little anime, but this is one of them.
