naomi wolf?
i was listening to npr in the dc area while i was home and a lady was making comparisons between the bush administration and dictatorships around the world! what's worse, she was very convincing!  especially with ideas like how when conquorers are forced to leave a territory to the original inhabitants, the pattern shows that they raid the treasury first - much like the bail out packages do for the bush administration so that when obama goes into office, all the "yes we cans" in terms of healthcare for every american and green power become "no we can't" because we don't have any money.......so i think i've found the link to the story below. and i was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this person and can tell me whether she is  an extremist blow-hard or a serious voice that needs to be taken seriously? i hate what she is saying, but i'm afraid it's true.

In my experience with Naomi Wolf, she tends to take arguments that may have a core of truth to them (such as one administration poisoning the well for the incoming administration) and inflames it (The Bush Administration was like a dictatorship). She also has a tendency to gloss over other facts (the complacency of Congress) that may detract from her argument. Depending on your political point of view regarding postmodern feminism, she may be a little extreme.

thanks! this is exactly the kind of thing i'm looking for. i'm liberal, sure. but i don't want to listen blindly to every person who comes along railing against the bush administration.

I haven't kept up with Naomi Wolf in recent years; I think the last book of hers I read was Promiscuities, which was about feminism and women's sexuality. My main impression of her is that she's a slick writer, but her theories aren't particularly deep, and in general she tends to ignore women's experiences that don't match her own. That's just my reaction to her feminist theorizing, though; I don't know much about her recent writing.
