meet the new addition to our family!

yes we got two.
i'm just as surprised as you are. and now of course we are re-thinking names to include literary pairings. so far luthien and beren is my favorite choice, but it is undecided.
what happened is this.
we got there and this little boy (in front) jumped in the cat carrier.
he hung out for a while...jumped out and came over to hang out in my lap purring his face off. and i looked at ross and asked him if he was having second thoughts about which one we got because this boy was so friendly...and he said, "wanna get both of them?" i couldn't believe it. apparently a dream predisposed him to getting two of them....
i am so in love with this guys already.
i spent the night in the guest room with them so that they would not be alone and they spent most of the night on the bed with me. they are very warm.

madeliene on the other hand, is less than thrilled.

the champion!

no, i only wish i did. we have a small house and don't really have space at the moment. but there will be a kitty experiment as soon as there's space. i say experiment as ross is allergic, so we're looking at housing a mum and kittens on a temporary basis during breeding season, as we give them back to shelters to home at the end of it, and get a couple months to see if ross can survive without constant dosing of anti-allergy tablets.

my ross is allergic too - but it's a mild enough allergy that he doesn't have any reaction at all to our cats, which are low allergy. there are several breeds that are; maine coons, russian blues, bengals...and maybe a couple of others. they are more expensive, but the lack of allergy problems is worth it (imho). it's also great because we have friends with very strong allergies...and they can almost always hang out at our place as long as they have benedryl.

that's certainly worth knowing. though i'd like to try to adopt shelter cats, if possible. but it's all hypothetical for at least two years, anyway, as we have staying in the little house whilst saving for a deposit to buy.
