first the knitting

not sure what to say about these other than that the pictures don't even come close to doing them justice. these are brenda dayne's hellfire lace brother amos socks. they are possibly the most beautiful (and easily the most difficult) socks i've ever knit. knit in fleece artist merino 2/6.

then the soap.

the batch here includes:top lft - lavender, top middle - almond, milk and honey, bottom - patchouli, right side - oatmeal apricot freesia
i am extra pleased with the lavender because it is the first time i've managed to get the lavender buds in without them searing to green in the heat of the soap.
the patchouli may be a bit weak on scent but the others are incredible (and frankly strong patchouli is a big turn-off to me anyway, but i have no idea what detta wants.
i am hoping to horse-trade some of this tomorrow for spinning fiber when i go to order my new spinning wheel!

If I didn't already have a sizeable backlog of handmade soaps... The almond/milk/honey is really pretty. And I like the speckles of the oatmeal/apricot/freesia.

Very nice sock, too. (she says, putting her lace-sock-in-progress down so she can type)

thanks!
the speckles come naturally from the oatmeal being in the soap. i didn't add any color to either of those.

what kind of lace are you knitting?

Still, they're pretty.

I'm knitting Baudelaires. (They're the MWSI swap socks.)

Yay, spinning! Summer is a relatively productive spinning time for me, what with my wheel being directly in front of the air conditioner.

yeah spinning indeed~!
today i ordered my wheel and picked up a niddy noddy (with 2 lengths, and unfinished so that i can finish it the same as my wheel) oil and some hand-carders. plus i got some lovely free fiber with the wheel. pics to come.

awe thanks....i really should send you a sample at some point...which means i need to make something with essential oils only for scent. some of these have FO's, and i'm not EXACTLY sure how they were made.

That would be almost indescribably lovely.

The process of making and exact ingredients is, sadly, becoming more and more of an issue with me.

Driving me mad. Not necessarily all bad, admittedly, because it had made me take a hard look at the crap that gets dropped into a variety of products. However, I hate making the life of a waiter more frustrating by asking to see the label of a sauce or what went into it or... Bah.

I agree. The photo does not show up the lacy detail of the socks. I am so mad that I forgot to take some of your soap with me when I left. :(

Hey, did you finish your Clapotis? I just finished mine last weekend -- I have to weave in the ends and block it, and it'll be done. I used Alchemy Silken Straw and it came out AWESOME.

sounds great! are there pictures? on ravelry?
i have not finished mine yet. i ran out of stitch-markers in the increase section so that is a problem. but also with the surgery i have just been unable to work on anything at all...and for recovery i've wanted something that i can put down and know exactly where i am when i pick it back up again. i keep messing up my clapotis by forgetting where i am because i am knitting from 2 balls at once right now to blend the dye-lots.

No pictures yet; I don't have a digital camera... I suppose I should just hold it up in front of [livejournal.com profile] kfringe's webcam, or something. :)

I ended up using pieces of scrap yarn tied into loops as markers, because I couldn't find enough regular ones.
