i had a great weekend.
i slept a lot.
i watched movies with ross and house md episodes with susan and made good food and pretty much did nothing that would exert myself and prevent my wellness...except going to the grocery store for more oj and supplies for letting me eat vegetarian through the week.
last night i made a zateran's black beans and rice mix with chopped red pepper and fresh tomatoes...mmmm.
all in all the weekend was very relaxing and i am feeling MUCH better today.

i also got substantial knitting on the nutkin socks accomplished....AND i would have gotten much further than i am...except that the short-row heel pattern is very weird. it is creating all kinds of holes that displease me. i'm thinking about ripping it out (again) and just doing one of the other short row heels that i KNOW works...but i have written the designer on ravelry and am hoping she will help me figure out if i am doing something wrong first. i would really like this to be a learning experience because i vastly prefer to learn new heels i can use rather than feel like i have wasted my time on something that doesn't work. the socks are very orange and stripey and soft and i think i will be very happy with the completed project.

What kind of short-row heel does the pattern suggest?

you know it makes me happy EVERY DAMN DAY that there are people like you out there who are actually interested in what kind of short row.:)

it's like this:
for the first half of the heel turn you knit to the end minus 1 stitch (or minus one yo/st pair), turn and then yarn over before beginning the row back.
then for the second half of the heel, you knit(or purl) to the end, knit(or purl) the first yarn over, and then knit 3 together (after the first time you do it, which only knits or purls 2 together). the knitting 3 together step is what creates the holes because gaps form between each yo/st pair that don't get closed by knitting (or purling) them together with another stitch.
the pattern is free if you want to take a closer look at the directiosn
