class in 1/2 hour
Nov. 8th, 2004 05:57 pmbut in the meantime i have had tremendous fun running an over-the-phone scene with matt (aka. james connor)and making soap....which has turned an interesting orange-brown color. it will be interesting to see how it looks when it is cured. the goat's milk has a tendancy to change color when combined with lye, but newly mixed soap is always darker than the final product. it may be a nice cream color by the time it is done.
i hope.
if not i will be experimenting more with adding colorants.
it has been a long time.
things are quiet this week.
my parents are gone this week on a cruise on a tall-ship. can i tell you how many shades of green i am turning?
they are starting off in barbados.
one of my fondest dreams is to crew on a tall-ship. not a cruiser, designed to cater to vacationers, but one of the old, wooden ones.

Date: 2007-07-19 03:04 am (UTC)Sadly, direct lessons wouldn't be plausible - but I'll take whatever datum you can give me. I love creation, with my hands or my mind, and I'm always looking for more things to add to the inventory of random skills. I think there's some part of my head that wants to learn everything - and while I know that's patently impossible, the attempt is fascinating

Date: 2007-07-19 04:11 pm (UTC)i will be happy to overload you with soaping information. are you on librarything? if you check out my account (either eclipse or 2eclipse, i can't remember which), you will be able to see all my soaping books(which is where i learned how to do it). there are a couple of lj soaping communities, but in my experience they suck.
soaping is an enjoyable process and very satisfying, but my motivation is less sane than yours. i'm a bit paranoid about war, especially with our current administration. i make a point of learning skills that would be useful if we wound up without any infrastructure. i want to learn to hunt and butcher my kill for this same reason - only i'm terribly squeamish and am going to have to learn not to pass out first.
