If you HAD to choose only 3 musical groups/singers to listen to for the rest of your life...who would you choose? In this choice you get their entire discography...
1. TMBG
2. Bach
3. Vienna Teng
If I had extra space I would add...?
Cake
Imogen Heap
Cruxshadows
Dead Can Dance
U2

Date: 2008-01-18 06:23 pm (UTC)I refuse on the basis that my musical tastes are so eclectic that I cannot slavishly listen to any particular band/singer/artist/musical genre for the rest of my life, even in a hypothetical situation.
More importantly, I do not see why I should be monogamous to three artists/bands for the rest of my entire life. That is not a challenge. Challenge is to be able to embrace all other bands and be able to listen to them without sneering because we think the artist is intellectually or wardrobe challenge or their life choices are pitiful in comparison to the music they create. Challenging is admitting you like a band even when it would bring upon you the sarcasm and disdain.
What I personally find objectable is the characterization of my personality as cowardly, as the use of the word 'wuss' would imply. In fact, how would being able to choose three bands to listen to the rest of my life be characterized as bold, courageous, fearless or strong? On the contrary, it would merely indicate a slavish preference for the designated three 'winners' so to speak.
I enjoy challenges in my personal life (thus, the husband I chose), but I do not enjoy neither name-calling or the answering of potentially ponderous and entirely theoretical questions about musical preferences based on personal bias according lyrical favoritism, aural partiality, emotional significance and subjective opinions. (Although at this point it bears mentioning that even a technically superior in lyrics, music or vocals does not mean it is even pleasant, or meant to be listened to for the rest of one's life).
Good day to you.

But if you feel totally bad about it, you can always send me cookies.
