Yesterday I was productive.
I came home from work, stripped our guest bed sheets and did laundry. I took out the trash and the recycling and I stained the door to the fence that we put up this weekend.
Had a quick but pleasant chat with [profile] durlindanaand an even quicker shower before heading out the door to go to first ave and see TMBG.

The concert was AWESOME.

It was my first time at first ave, which is kind of a big deal venue in Minneapolis. For those of you who have read war for the oaks by emma bull, this is the venue where her band plays at the end. It’s a small-ish venue, but very cool and they had a large projection screen playing muppet show and robot chicken episodes before the bands started.
The opening band was a duo from Belfast called the oppenheimer. They were kinda punk and kinda pop and kinda electronic. They were miles better than NRBQ, who opened for TMBG the last time I saw them in 1993 (I’m old). I really enjoyed it even though I thought they were way too loud. I’m still going to have to check their lyrics out and see if I want to buy their stuff.
TMBG entered the stage around 10pm and played for 2 hours. We got a second encore out of them which was wonderful! They played a lot of my old favorites: birdhouse in your soul was their first song after the obligatory opener dedicated to first ave stage, also particle man and Istanbul not Constantinople. They also did a lot of stuff off their new album, the else. I liked most of it. Their guest guitarist, dan miller, was amazing and did some really find solos. Their stage presence was also really amazing. How did I not notice that john linnel is hot? I must have been too far from the stage last time. He’s got that sly Keifer Sutherland thing going, but skinner and kind like one of my ex-boyfriends also…Anyway the concert was truly amazing!

today i hope to get some chores done, get in a little studying and get a nap before class...a tall order. we'll see what happens.
