i am officially in love with this : http://www.librarything.com/about

i have been going nuts typing in the isbn's of all my library. so far i have only cataloged about 111 books....for some of them it is tricky to find the isbn and i want to have the correct edition posted. i am particularly in love with this because my fantasy is that if (god forbid) the house ever burns down, i will have an online record of our library to use for replacing them. it would be nice if there was also a check-out system. we loan books a lot and i forget who has them.

yes i really am this anal. the books in our house are also ordered alphabetically by author within several categories. otherwise i'd never be able to find what i want.

the nice thing about this is that i don't have to create the database - all i do is plug in the isbn and their program pulls all the relevant information. no extra data entry for me!

I started to try this once, haven't gone back, but was psyched and fascinated.
