cell phone do not call list

2eclipsewe got a forward from ross's dad today telling us that our cell phone numbers will be released to telemarketers.
a little web-research shows that this is bunk. there IS a 411 list for cell phone numbers being created, but it is not being released generally. also it is NOT allowed for telemarketers to use it.
on the other hand, if you want to put your cell number on the do not call list, it's not going to hurt anything.

Date: 2007-02-27 08:35 pm (UTC)In 31 days, cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls. You will be charged for these calls. Call the number below to register for the Do Not Call list, etc. etc.
It's an urban legend that goes around every couple of years. We used to get calls about this all the time at the FCC. It doesn't really do much harm, just causes mild panic now and again.
