so yesterday my retainer came out.
but my teeth stayed in!@!!!!
i have lots of nightmares about my teeth faling out, so i am very excited to have them NOT come true. i used to have lots of horror fantasies that the retainer was the only thing keeping my teeth stable.
my tongue hurts from the cement left on my teeth. i didn't go to a dentist or anything. the retainer just popped off from where it was behind my lower front teeth.
it's so NICE to be able to floss easily again.

I get nightmares about my teeth falling out too. I hate them so much, and they always leave me with a funky feeling when I wake up!

yeah me too....they are so....possible (as opposed to the other weird stuff i dream)...and then of course, last night i dreamed i was being prepared for throat surgery. that was awful.

actually, my mom tells me that this is a very common dream for young women to have and that it is about fear of losing power.

My retainer was taken out by the orthodontist. I think. Maybe I snapped it and he had to take it out. Either way, it's been gone for a long time (and I had my braces off when I was 15, I think...).

I would have gone nuts having that thing in this long.

Losing one's teeth is a very common dream. This is for both men and women, but it's typically manifest in women more often than their counterparts, and typically in those that are in a somewhat unstable or "in flux" situation. It typically signifies a sense of loss, or worry about loss, per below:

"Often a sense of loss, such as death of family member or loved one; the ageing process as it relates to maturity, so worries about getting older and one's changing image. When our first teeth fall out at around seven, it is probably our initial experience of losing something from our body, something weird happening - we might even fear other bits of us could drop off or out."

well it's definately true that i've been in transition...and that in some ways i've lost myself as i was on the east coast/in school/single/surrounded by friends. but for me, the fear of losing power also rings true. i fear my own impotance.
yeah, i know that's usually a guy thing.

Not necessarily. There's many forms of impotence, in which only one is nearly exclusively a male worry. And in fact, losing power does absolutely fall into a sense of loss. It's not limited to death, but most often manifested in the worry of death and loss for someone else. It all makes sense to me, at least :)

I should have time to talk, but we have company tonight, i have to finish planning my sunday school lesson, get some housework/laundry done, apply for more jobs, start work on my thesis, and i have an IC meeting with Corey saturday evening.
and church sunday morning.
so free to talk, yes. free to come to chicago this weekend? no. however if free means that you are going to be in this neck of the woods, i will MAKE time to see you.

Just talkin for now - I'm busy over the weekend a lot too, but I want to make a pointed effort to at least give you a call when I'm free and chat for a little bit at least. Likely Sunday - that's my best open spot. It's been far too long without the love!
