you know what i hate?
we did secret santas this year at work...this is my first xmas in this particular work environment and the first time i have had a secret santa. it was fun. i bought cute things at world market and had my secret santa fooled. and i had a nice gift for her today.....
what they neglected to tell me is that everyone does gifts for everyone else anyway....
i am DAMN lucky i brought in a bunch of homemade soaps that i can distribute so i don't look like a total ass.
grrrrrrr.....
is there some sort of secret code for gift bringing that i missed out on?
there ought to be some special little mood icon for feeling like an asshat.

on the bright side, the gift stuff is mostly done privately, so i won't look like an ass in front of everyone.
and we will have a lovely xmas party and i DID bring in all kinds of goodies more than i signed up to bring.
mmmmmmmm.....

I am always the unpopular gift giver this time of year because I donate money to a charity in people's honor...nobody seems to really like that (or atleast the majority of people dont)

personally, i hate that kind of gift giving convention.
it's absolutely unfair of them not to mention it to you, and you'd be perfectly within your rights to say sorry, you didn't know. maybe bring a basket of goodies in after the holidays or something if you want.
if you have stuff to distribute fine, but there is no good reason to feel bad about telling people you didn't know about the mass gift exchange.
sorry. bit of a rant--the whole surprise gift thing is just one of my pet peeves.
