today is the company thanksgiving party and no one wants to work.
i have gotten a decent amount done so far regardless...which is good because i went home early with stomach yuckiness yesterday.
my boss asked ross if i was pregnant. PREGNANT!
have i mentioned that i am positivelydefinatelyNOTPREGNANT!

i guess one of the weirdnesses of being young and married is that people think you are pregnant if you have a 12-hour stomach bug.
in anycase i am MUCH better today, thank you.

this week has been pleasant, although i find myself with LOTS to do. last night i made my yummy cranberry sauce (with orange and ginger mmmmmmm)for today, and i'm glad i got the practice in, because i've got to make it again for tomorrow.
we had oodles of people over monday night in honor of ross's friend john coming into town. he and his wife are new orleans evacuees and we are very glad they are safe. in the meantime this resulted in plans for vampire tag tonight.
we will see if that actually happens - there may be rain...in which case we will probably get together and play board games. FUN FUN.

when ross first told me about this it sounded SO cool and i wanted to play but the people he played with weren't around.
the reason this matters is that vampire tag is VERY physical. the chic with black belt who is actively involved in martial arts is NOT IN GOOD ENOUGH SHAPE FOR THIS GAME. which means i will get crucified if we play.
here are the rules:
you play at night on a playground wearing black and dark face make-up.
you can't just run anywhere you like. you have to count to 10 as you take each step; 1-one-thousand=1 step. you can move over the playground equipment at any pace you like. at the start of the game you pass out cards. if your card has a bat on it, you are a vampire. no one knows who is a vampire and who is human unless they give it away.
you have some objects made of foam. they can be used once.
there are several foam stakes. these can be used to stake a vampire ONCE.
then they have to be tossed in the air for someone else to use.
a vampire who has been staked becomes human.
there is ONE foam cross. vampires can't get you if you have the cross. if you invoke the cross, all the vampires near you have to run to the furthest corner of the playground from you. the cross expires and you must toss it in the air for someone else to use. vampires cannot touch stakes or crosses.
vampires can turn humans into vampires by grabbing them on the shoulder and hissing.
when a human is bitten, they toss their heads in the air, howl like a werewolf and become a vampire.
vampires have two magical abilities that can be used ONCE during their existance as a vampire; snatch and bat.
snatch means that the vampire can grab the human anywhere(being respectful of areas normally covered by a swimsuit).
bat is an ability where the vampire can "turn into a bat" and go to any location they choose in a straight line.

if you stake a human, they become a ghost. it is a bad idea to stake a human because they will most likely haunt you, yelling "human here! irritating human here! right here! ooo! now they're a vampire! vampire here!"
there is a process by which ghosts can regain life, climbing through tires and such, but i'm not clear enough to explain it.
sound like fun anyone?

i saw the new harry potter movie with ross on monday.
i thought it was really good, though i can see why it might be confusing for someone who has not read the books. some things were simply explained poorly.
also i have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] votishal about THE TRUTH.
