on one hand i'm just in an aggressive mood and like chicken. mostly i got this icon for the fun of it. on the other... i am full of the rage of the formerly deceived. i'm ALL about stewardship, taking care of animals, and humane treatment of the earth and its inhabitants. in junior high, i thought PETA was great. then i learned that they exaggerate stories and give worse-case scenarios and BEYOND THAT, they sometimes work to destroy the very institution that is preserving the lives of animals. i don't like that. i think that we DO need to be respectful of our fellow creatures, but in my book that means using humane, relatively painless practices for butchering, not forcing everyone to become vegetarian. in my book that means no animal testing for commercial products...but i'm not sure about outlawing drug testing on animals....and it definately doesn't mean getting rid of all domesticated animals so that they can "live free". we CHANGED them. they are NOT part of the natural ecosystem. we would do horrible damage if we let them into the wild. So i do have problems with organizations that advocate for these radical stances.
