i want to say that i didn't do much this weekend.
i want to say i did too much this weekend.
friday susan and i went to the gym and then went out to olive garden with ross and watched conan the barbarian...
saturday i had my spinning group...and then a knitting group. and then i came home, tore out the progress i made on my shawl and began it again without the mistake.... this is a picture before i ripped it out, but also before i knit about 3x as much as i had here. :( still, you can see the yarn is gorgeous.
i'm very pleased with the choice.

saturday ryan came over and i made pork roast and the guys put together ryan's new computer.
then we watched BSG. LOVE the ending.
also think they could have made more interesting choices in a few places, but i'm not going to give spoilers here.

i can normally cram so much more into a weekend than this. i don't feel like i did that much, and yet i'm exhausted as if i have.
i just haven't been able to shake the feelings of stress i've been having lately. even though there is nothing apparent for me to be stressing over. it's possible i'm just absorbing ross's stress over all the crazy union meetings they've been having, or the on-coming tech for carolina or change...but it's more like i'm forgetting something.
the bright side of this is that it's making me go through things in my head and get things done. the down side is that doing these things is not making me feel better.

That shawl is going to be absolutely stunning.

i hope so.
i'm VERY excited about it.
but i'm also beginning to have the feeling this won't be the end.
that there will be more shawls. and that i won't be able to stop.

And that's a bad thing because....?

(she asks, about to go back to working on her sixth or seventh lace shawl)

...sigh...it's only the beginning of another serious addiction. at least it's one that is relatively affordable (as opposed to sweaters).

True. 3-6 ounces of fiber can make a pretty decent shawl, whereas I think most people need at least a pound of fiber for a sweater. Still, I want to start knitting at least the occasional sweater...someday.

Same here, at least if 'currently' can include yarn that's on my wheel but which I haven't worked on in weeks...

sure why not! i went for a couple of monts and barely touched my wheel right before xmas.
it's about priorities.
i have a spinning group that meets once a month an i try to go to that. it is a good way for me to remember how much i like it.
i'd love to see some pics!
what kind of wheel do you have?

The wheel on which I'm spinning for a sweater is a Lendrum DT. I've got one finished skein so far, at 225 yds:

I bought a Louet Victoria last fall, theoretically for instant-gratification type projects to help maintain focus on sweater-spinning (and because the Lendrum isn't really portable by foot or bus or trolley), but I've gotten sucked into a big lace project...

good fortune in progress

Here's a picture of both wheels and a lot of mess.

oooo....you spin so consistently!
i have been spinning with crapwool (i think there's a picture somewhere in my back-tags for spinning) and it is so chunky and slubby and uneven. i don't even know if i CAN spin consistantly.
i love the colors you are working with.

Thanks! Some of it's practice (I started spindle-spinning 4 years ago, and quickly got hooked), and some of it's good fiber prep. I suspect your yarn will be more consistent once you switch to something other than your crapwool.

It's like a sunrise you can wear on your shoulders... or something shiny and pretty. Both work.
The beads look great too!

thanks.
i am completely in love with this shawl. i itch to work on it while i'm at work or making food or....pretty much anything else. i'm really looking forward to wearing it this summer.

but i HAVE to get the hat done for ross's birthday!

have you been working on anything fun?

Socks!! My Mom lent me her little Vogue Knitting Socks book, and there's a really easy pattern for hiking socks in there. The cuff part is easy, but I'm dreading turning the heel; it seems like something that's easy to mess up!

there are about a zillion ways to turn a heel.
so far i haven't met one i didn't like.
seriously it is a LOT easier than it seems.
bravo for trying something new!

This is a relief! (And thanks!)
I'll dread the heel slightly less :)

It's going to be my end-of-the year gift to myself in May. Once I'm on the farm for the summer, I'll be able to get sucked in and waste-- er, I mean-- constructively use my time there :)
