What is a "contracted purchasing analyst" out of curiousity? I am a retail assistant manager (since turnabout is fair) and not exactly thrilled with it.
it means that i manage the purchasing transaction (from requestor to receipt of product) for a range of product 3M orders, analyze problems and solve them. mostly it means that i clean up other people's messes when the system is unreasonably complicated or the vendors or 3M people are too stupid to do things the way they are instructed - which happens a lot. the contracted part just means that this is a contract position, not a permanant one.
Oh, my wife worked worked a similar job for a company contracted by Office Depot that sold office supplies to business accounts. It might not actually be a similar job besides the "clean up other people's messes...too stupid to do things the way they are instructed" part. Besides the account management aspect though she also had to do a lot of selling and upselling...she hated it.
i don't hate my job. i just find it boring often and always not in my field. i am closer to being an accounts payable person than i am to being a sales person.
I hate mine. I have only been doing it for a few months but I am really frustrated with it. I want to seek something else but the amount of money I am making doing this (and we do need it) is hard to find somewhere else especially if I have to start entry level. I just want to get out of retail so very bad. It was a bad fit from the beginning. I don't know why I stayed with it so very long.
I was recently promoted to salaried management from a less stressful management position. I am not dealing well with this side of the job but I am on a "learning curve"...I guess...
