Thanks for posting.

When I first heard about this I was blown away. When I read the articles I realized that the person, from a reproductive system standpoint, is quite female. Of course since he is transgenered his brain is male but he had the essential reproductive organs, such as a uterus and ovaries, since birth.

But amazingly enough there has actually been a good deal of scientific progress in impregnating biological males: http://www.malepregnancy.com/science/

If such proceedures could become commonplace, can you imagine the kinds of changes our society could undergo. It staggers the immagination.

yeah, it would be a lot more astonishing if he didn't have the girl parts naturally,
but i remember my AP bio teacher saying that the membrane that stretches across the abdomen and holds the intestines in could theoretically provide a rich enough blood supply for a fetus.
just 'sayin'. :)

part of me hopes so. i am excited by what i understand as the blossoming of the human spirit in GBLT people expressing their love for one another.

part of me hopes not. because we are not just individuals. we are community. even with the people who hate us. and there are thousands of people in this country not ready to face that drastic a change. i think those people SHOULD be pushed to change...but i think GLBT's should also take some pity on those who have not taken pity on them...because we need to heal this society, not break it further.

You're right, we're not ready for it, and again, probably won't be in our lifetime.

I can just imagine the uproar. I used to think very much as you talk about in terms of slowing down when I was younger but now I am more in the "full speed ahead mode."

If I was king of the world, I would probably put such research on hold for a long time. But I think science and the medical profession will be more inclined to give couples what they want if the pregnancny can be done safely as compared to taking all the socitial-burden type issues and looking so much at the big picture.

Finally, I don't know if you know this, but there is a big fan fiction obsession with "MPREG" or MenPregnant. Check out: http://www.fanfiction.net/~thempregspirit
Not something I find very diverting, but interesting to get a different perspective.
