thank goodness the weekend is here tomorrow.
it has been a long time since i've really been sucked into a computer game.
i think that vampire the masquerade rpg was the last one.
ross has been wanting us to have something we can play together for a LONG time...but i haven't really been interested in EVE or the realistic first person shooters he prefers. i need to disbelieve in the violence i'm inflicting in order to be okay with it.
so last weekend he bought both of us neverwinternights....and this week he got them installed and working (mine is still bugging on the patch installation, but oh well). and i am hooked.
hooked.
it's silly.
i played both baldur's gate games and didn't finish either one because i got bored.
this is the same thing (admittedly with some REALLY cool upgrades)....but then there is also the lure of the fact that you can create and run your own modules....and this time i'm friends with other people who might want to do the same thing, and married to a guy willing to DM.....and i just can't stop being excited.
so it is a good thing the weekend is coming because i fully intend to spend it geeking out on the computer.

Date: 2008-03-11 02:17 pm (UTC)With all the other games we're playing, it's the only way we'll have any HOPE of ever seeing the endgame.
We started 18 months ago and I think right now we're only partway through chapter 3, to say nothing of the two expansions, AND the three relatively long custom modules I downloaded to go AFTER the last expansion.

Date: 2008-03-11 02:26 pm (UTC)but it's kinda nice to be playing a game when ross is playing a game and to share the same space like that.
i am still in the second chapter....but that's not bad considering i only started last wednesday.

Date: 2008-07-14 04:20 pm (UTC)but i wound up making the kind of mistake 3/4 of the way through that would mean i have to go back to some 1/2 pt to fix. and i'm not willing to just live with the mistake....so i haven't played at all in a few months.
this usually happens to me with these games. i get excited and do nothing else for a couple of weeks and then i get bored and do something else.
