still wintery

it snowed yesterday.
today it is -11 with winds from the north. i keep track of the wind by watching the smoke stack at one of the other buildings in the 3M campus.

really unpleasant dream last night.

i dreamed that i was helping scott and ross at the guthrie. they were running sound for a movie, yes a movie, not a play. they pulled a screen down in the procenium. but ross had to do something else and so they put me in front of a complicated board (not the one they really use), handed me a script i'd never read before with some of ross's scribbled notes and put me in charge of running it. scott was putting a lot of pressure on me to be ready immediately. there was no time for me to read through the script and i had trouble even finding where it started in the packet of papers i had been handed. i had gotten confused about what ross wanted me to do and moved some of the cues (which were labeled alphabetically instead of numerically). there was no time for me to clarify and when i tried, ross told me he didn't want to hear it in a disapproving way. so i ran the sound extremely incompetantly for the show, with no stage manager calling cues, worrying constantly that i had missed something or that my dynamic changes were wrong...and because it was a movie, that included the speaking as well, so there was no way for me to gauge how far things had progressed. i didn't work for the guthrie...i was just there and doing it anyway....badly. it was a very stressful dream and when it woke me up at 4am i felt immense relief.
