Aug. 9th, 2005 06:53 pmi will be home in less than a week!
so much has been happening up this way. last weekend we went and saw ross's extended family and delt with his mom's wedding chaos...which seems to have temporarily died down.
this week i updated my resume and sent it out to man-power. i probably won't get a real job until after the wedding due to being gone so much, but there's no reason i can't bring in SOME money. and today my insurance agent (everyone is som DAMN nice up here) called me to tell me this faith-based organization that does affordable housing needs a part-time co-ordinator and she is sending me the information and would be HAPPY to provide an introduction....
yipe!
this weekend i stained the outside of our privacy fence ( we have a nosy neighbor )
and then we went to visit ross's grandparents. it was very pleasent to spend time with them and we stayed for quite a while. i was a little worried that they were going to try to give us everything in the house. as it was we got some LOVELY stained glass done by his grandmother - who is REALLY talented and creative - and a really .....well...it's not exactly UGLY...just not to my taste....we got a lamp. the artwork on it is skilled. i just don't want my house looking like a hunting lodge.
YES i love nature. NO i don't want to decorate indiscriminately with north woods scenes. Ross has about talked his mom out of giving him wolf prints. i haven't actually talked to him about the lamp yet. if he likes it, we will find a place for it. but i am glad we are only getting married once.
we did get to go see his grandfather's workplace....which might not be so interesting ( if his grandfather weren't the last in a long line of undertakers. )
now my sister is making me nuts. we talked this past winter about a flower-girl dress for my neice, rachel i told her i wanted something in lavender. then she sent me an e-mail telling me she would like pink better, but would adhere to my wishes and go with lavender.
then she goes out and buys a CORAL dress and is unwilling to accept that it is not the right color. i'm about ready to strangle her. my mother is handling it, god bless her.
