happy birthday to my wonderful, wise father.
happy birthday to the man who always has time for me when i am upset, always assumes the best about me even when it wasn't true, always encourages me to pursue my dreams and always tells the long version of the story.
happy birthday to my dad who teased me and chased me around the house and didn't care if it upset my mom, who had adventures with me instead of stories before bedtime, who took me to the drug store for the SOLE purpose of getting chocolate, who carried me on his shoulders and took delight in my saying "no," and who raced me backwards through the halls of my elementary school and let me win.
happy birthday to the guy who loves me unreservedly even while not understanding me completely, the guy who talks theology and psychology with me, the guy who gets more excited for me than i am for myself, the guy who always wants to go for a walk with me and talk about relationships and how people work.

is it any wonder that i can't imagine life without him and everything that makes him dear.
i love you dad.

we are extremely lucky, thanks.:)
and what is fun is that my mom reads my lj. she'll print this out and make sure he sees it (or at least she has with things like this before). the last one made him cry and he carried it around in his pocket for a week. he's great! and it's also great that i know how to get to him and use my powers for good!:)
