so my first day of work was deadly-boring. luckily my supervisor, troy, has sympathy. he's kind of a loner-guy, but not at all a bad sort. i was welcomed heartily this morning. it appears they REALLY need me. that is nice. i like being needed. and, i actually do have quite a bit of experience in purchasing. it is weird to feel proud of that. in this job i will be buying all kinds of stuff for their TX facility.
they absolutely could NOT get their act together with the set-up crap though. i couldn't get my e-mail set up until i was about to walk out the door this evening and couldn't find out what the problem was because they IT guy couldn't get through to me. they set up my phone wrong. grrrr. i would have expected to have things a bit more together than that. so i spent the whole day doing tedious out-of-date computer training because it was one of the things that did work and because i have to get through 2 days worth of the crap before i can actually play with the system and really learn something.
on the other hand, there is a farmer's market every thursday (hooray!@@!), their security people are really nice, i have already made friends with the main receptionist in the building (a number one priority in any new job is to befriend the receptionist. they RUN the place!) i also have my own cube and no one bothers me much or looks over my shoulder.....and i don't think the job will be boring. just the training. my hours are more flexible than i thought (as long as i am there til 3pm, i can adjust around pretty much anything else) and friday is casual dress.....also looks like business casual runs on the casual side. this makes me quite happy.

overall i was very happy with transformers. i don't know how much of that was cuz i didn't watch the show when i was little (just got the damn song stuck in my head)
mostly i thought it was very funny, amazingly animated and exciting. i was also thrilled to see smashing pumpkins in the soundtrack!!!! *dances*
i was extremely disgusted with some of the writing at the end though. even the american government isn't stupid enough to try to cover up a robot war that has just taken place in a major city with thousands of witnesses. you just can't do it.! i don't buy it. i also hated the "permission to speak sir. i want to stay with the boy" crap at the end. they set up why the transformers came to earth fairly well, all things considered, why couldn't they have focused on having no where else to go or something like that? i just didn't buy it. more than that, it disgusted me with it's revolting sappiness. but i liked the jabs at the government at the end with sam's annoying parents. good stuff there.
