so i talked to the vet today.
twice.
the first vet says that luther's CVC (i THINK that's the right acronym) came back and his blood volume is at 32.5% instead of 24....so he's now on the low end of normal.
this is very good news. he has also gained another lb - up to 13.5 lbs.
she faxed the results to the university.
the second vet called to say his bone marrow biopsy results came back from california....and he does NOT have bone marrow cancer *dances* better yet, his bone marrow is DEFINATELY producing new red blood cells which means he has a very low chance of having FLV hiding in there somewhere. she says we've already paid for the test though, so she's going to go ahead and do it anyway. i've had so many scares at this point that i just want to KNOW once and for all beyond the shadow of a doubt if FLV is hiding in my cat somewhere.
but that pretty much rules out the two worst possible answers. which means i get to keep my kitty *dances more*. the remaining option is that he has an autoimmune virus of some kind and he is already on the medication for that.
i am SO relieved and happy.
i am definately making better use of my unemployed state than i have in the past.
i have arranged to start volunteering at second harvest heartland (a whole 5 blocks from my house)every friday while i'm unemployed. this will a)give me some semblance of a schedule b)give me the feeling of doing something really worthwhile on a weekly basis c)get me in contact with people who work somewhere i would like to work and an "in" if they happen to get an opening d)save me the trouble of an informational interview there.
i have set a schedule for myself where i get up at 9 every day and start doing something productive daily. errands/clean-up in the morning and at the library by 12. so far i have several pages of notes for my thesis and i'm feeling pretty good about it. it amuses me that i actually have real plans to quote fight club.
in the last two days i have talked to jerad and gotten advice about how to do informational interviews, got my tabs renewed on my car, gone to the bank, taken luther to the vet, gotten the cat food he won't eat ready to go to the local no-kill shelter as a donation, taken the recycling out, spent lots of time at the library and in general been pretty productive even IF the science fiction section has proven itself to be too much temptation for me to avoid entirely while i'm there.
clean my desk
cat box
take the xmas decorations down
call jobs that didn't hire me and find out why
set up at least 4 informational interviews
register for german classes
call my grandpa and my aunt carol to let them know i liked their xmas gift
take back my aunt carol's late birthday gift and get something i like better
