I think you might have your LJ set up to force your layout onto other people's pages. If you go to Manage and then Info, there's a checkbox asking if you view comment pages in your journal style. If that's unchecked, you shouldn't get the orange/yellow-ness mixing in with Heather's layout.
At least, I hope it might be that. That's a quick fix. =)
