somehow i didn't manage to get my xmas candy done this weekend.
nor did i get my desk clean.

i did finish my blueberry ice cream socks
i did block the cabled alpaca scarf i made for my brother(need to remember to take the pins out when i get home and take a pictures).
i did start a hat for my younger nephew that is boring - which is what his mother says he wants. but it's going fast. it's half done. i need to stop at borealis and get another skein of the yarn. and something for my swap buddy in bubbo's pants on ravelry. if you don't know that is and you are not a knitter, don't worry about it, it's not that important.

i did go with [livejournal.com profile] lonewolfnight and susan and michael to alexis bailey vineyard and take part in the wine and chocolate tasting they were offering there. it was pretty cool. their regular drinking wines did not impress me. they were too sweet. but some of their desert wines were truly lovely, including an orange infused red, and an icewine (made from grapes that have been allowed to freeze on the vine) that we picked up. i also got a copy of this deeply amazing cookbook. it has recipes based on local foods including my favorite porridge from hell's kitchen(a restaurant in downtown minnesota with the best breakfast options ever)!!!! i tried to duplicate it once on my own and i was 1 ingredient off! it is so good to be validated that way.

we then had a really fabulous lunch with [livejournal.com profile] oneonajourney and they had elk so i got to eat meat that i didn't cook! which happens very rarely because so few restaurants have free-range options.

ross and i picked up some used movies for cheap at the mall that were on sale and spent some time re-watching stardust together. and i met up with renee at the chatterbox cafe in st. paul, which i had not been to before.

it was a truly lovely weekend about friendship and connection and all the things we are supposed to be thinking about this time of year.

yesterday we dropped ross's car off at the shop for some suspension work, and ross used his mad negotiating skills to get a discount. today i will do the grocery shopping for thanksgiving week and take him to go pick it up.
i am REALLY looking forward to the long weekend. i am finding it harder and harder to get out of the warm snuggly bed in the morning. it is hard for me to get up before the sun does.
