2eclipse: (rachel - sleep)
today is slow and my body threatens to go to sleep.
i'll probably wake up as soon as i leave work...which would be good. i have to go to target to return ross's gloves and get a new shower curtain liner before i get to go home.

this weekend was lovely. i got lots of good time with ross and we are both very happy with our marriage. lots of snuggle time and re-watching the others
i finished renegade's magic by robin hobb.
it was not as good as i hoped it would be. really this whole trilogy was not as good as her previous 3 trilogies...which makes it about an 8 on a scale of 1-10 instead of a 9 and a half. really she's a fabulous writer and i love her work. i just thought that this trilogy was less exciting and had a less satisfying conclusion than her previous work. she still managed to build an incredibly intricate world and do some pretty damn neat things with it. i do recommend these...just not as much as her books set in the six duchies and bingtown.

we mostly spent saturday in st. cloud gaming with adam cerling, jon truitt, shawn isenhart and tim wheatly. we transfered over to the "shadows of yesterday" mechanics from the "this mortal coil" mechanics and i am SO much happier with it. this system actually has effective ways to handle conflict that don't prevent you from taking risks through the rest of the game. i think everyone else is happier too.
we also got to see chris and teresa's little morgan. she is very cute, and looks a lot like chris, but she is still at the stage where she pretty much eats, sleeps and poops and not much else. we met at a barnes and noble and i was so proud of myself i didn't buy anything! except coffee. it was really nice to see them again.

yesterday i did a lot of cooking for both ross and myself. breakfast and then jambalaya in the afternoon. i try to do a lot of big cooking on weekends so that i will have leftovers to take to lunch during the week. i also did a LOT of knitting. i finished my monkey socks for rachel and blocked them. when they are dry i will roll them up and mail them to her...i am debating about knitting up a quick sit-ster for her as well (think cute little 4 inch doll made of sock yarn). probably no though. i need to get these to her. for those of you who don't know, my niece is currently in a boarding school getting some special help understanding her feelings and other people's. so far it seems like it's helping a lot. i have taken to writing her about once a month and i think a gift like this will mean a lot to her.
i also started a new pair of really cool orange, yellow and grey socks in a pattern called "nutkin" that makes the stripes twist a little bit and look more like the snake the color is supposed to suggest. neat.
ross wants to know when i am going to make him a hat...my answer is something to the effect of - when we have extra money for me to buy yarn. i have not bought yarn since the beginning of november...which is about when he decided he definitely wanted a hat. in the meantime i have plenty of projects to work on for which i already have yarn. i have to admit that i do have something of a prejudice against knitting hats though. i haven't had very good luck...which is a shame because i've got some neat patterns.

next weekend we have a birthday party to go to on friday and then dusty and val are coming down for the rest of the weekend. that will be really nice. we haven't seen them since the summer after the wedding.
