i have been too negative in my lj. my life is great and i have no business pretending it's not.
inspired by conversation with
aryaluna, i am making this up.
delight is in small things.
post a list of 15 things that make you really happy. like the music thing a while back, pick one we have in common and put a star by it. i'll go first. (because, you know, anything that doesn't involve actually writing my papers is a great way to spend my time)
1) the invader zim wav. file i found/downloaded that says "weenie-shmeenie!"
2) the way my cat reaches out with his paw to pull my face closer to his.
3) finding a song i have been looking for online.
4) other students nodding and looking relieved when i speak in class.
5) turning in a paper and knowing i won't have to write it again.
6) leather pants (not just mine)
7) learning to swear in other languages.
8) that look in someone's eye when you know that you've really understood them and it has surprised them.
9) clean smells
10) thunderstorms that crack the sky and make me weak in the knees
11) crunching leaves under my feet
12) sailing at 19 knots on the bay just ahead of a storm and getting splashed with warm water.
13) sushi and indian food
14) bagpipes
15) card games (esp. bridge, hearts and gin rummy)
