last night i dyed yarn for the first time. i used kool-aid because i wanted something easy, non-toxic and that would produce ridiculous bright colors.
so now my house smells wonderful, but after seeing how well kool-aid works to dye yarn, i never want to drink it again.
also my hands are the wrong color. i'd take a picture, but i really have ugly hands.
and the yarn has already had an adventure!
after i was done with the after-dying wash, i decided that kool-aid was just too potent in its ability to dye. it would have to dry outside lest it stain my bathroom. so i took it outside to hang on the black metal patio chairs.
and of course it thunderstormed last night. i know ross truly loves me because he rescued my yarn from the storm and brought it inside without even asking me (i was asleep).

i will continue to post progress reports on this project. the next step is to find some suitably messy yarn to make it monsterous when it knits up.:)

I dyed some roving with kool-aid in January. I spun it, washed it, and now I've knit it, and it still smells fruity.

It didn't stain anything in the bathroom, though, which is good, considering my lack of outdoor space for drying things.
