If it makes you feel better, ticks aren't bugs, or even insects. They're in the same Order as spiders (arachnida), in the Family acari.
And yeah, Lyme disease is scary. I remember freaking out last summer when I found a red bull's eye rash, got tested, and got doxy. On the upside, if you're alright, there aren't any freaky side effects. ~Amanda
