laid off.

so i was kind of expecting this.
the boss called me in today and said he isn't going to be able to keep me busy for as long as he expected. which means i'll be updating my resume and having a chat with ross about cover letters tonight.
i just didn't expect it so soon. neither did boyd. he is kinda depressed about it.
it is nice to have your boss depressed about laying you off.

i am not looking forward to moving into full job-search mode. i hate job-searching. it is so hard to spend most of your life stomping on your own ego so that you don't put yourself forward too much and become a braggart and then go out and have to sell your own talents as though you are all that and a bag of chips.
or even cooler than a bag of chips.
maybe "all that and a rugby ball" or "all that and tiramisu"
no fun.

yes, but you ARE all that and a good slice of tiramisu.

thank you sweetie.
i'll tell you it is a good thing i don't have any in the house just now....it would be GONE. as it is i am having trouble staying away from the ben and jerry's. being let go is never fun, and i tend to eat in response.

I'll take the Tiramisu please

The whole second paragraph really resonates with me right now. Chin up.

thanks man....
do you think about changing careers? or are you just thinking about how ironic it is that we demand bravado and egotism from potential employees while condemning those qualities in friends?

Sorry to hear about the bad news.

I relate to the uncomfortable job search feelings.

I adore Emiliana Torrini. Thanks for the recommendation!

I had fun last night and would love to do it again sometime!
