my mother is a hoot although i was appalled by her gingerbread men. we get along ridiculously well - which comes from being willing to fight with each other honestly and love each other well enough to figure out how to fix it. i am blessed beyond all deserving of it. my dad is pretty cool too. mom and i were up talking once and he came downstairs wearing my mom's nightgown, did a little dance and then went back upstairs. not bad for someone who was born during the depression.
That is a good balance. Willing to fight and willing to fix - awfully rare, though. So many vectors try to teach that if you fight at all there is something horribly wrong - and then there's the culture of shame and guilt, which too often chokes off the ability or motivation to do anything about it. But I digress...
*visualizes and smiles* Indeed. I cannot actually think of a "dad" that I have known who would do something like that.

And I might try that this year.
