i feel like a badass

as of yesterday we are officially working toward getting me a motorcycle.
specifically a honda nighthawk. this is because [livejournal.com profile] magikay and [livejournal.com profile] lada93 are made of awesome.

EDIT: i have been informed that this is incorrect. the bike is actually a rebel 450...which i like even better! woot!

i will be scouting out the options for weekend-long saftey courses.
and some chaps and other protective gear.
this may make me less of a badass, but is also indicative of being smarter than the average bear.

yes, [livejournal.com profile] sunmother, i know you hate it. you are free this does not change my decision or my happiness about it.

my main question now is: where are we going to put it? per haps we build a shed this summer?

protective gear

but some of that protective gear can be totally hot. like chaps. ;p

dual purpose and all that.

i'm TOTALLY digging the idea of chaps.
but a lot of the jackets for women are clearly made for women with no boobs.
i seriously don't get that.

ill ask a friend of mine whos much more into the biker scene than i probably ever will be, to see if she has any ideas for good jackets.

as for why they envision women without boobs, ill never understand.

It's actually a rebel 450, similar to a nighthawk but more harley shaped.
We managed to squeeze two of them and a chevy blazer into a single car garage, so I think you'll have no problems with storage, hehe

The safety course is great, we both did that as well

you will enjoy it!

!!!

AWESOME.
i've actually seen pictures of the rebel on their website and that's a pretty slick bike! i like the seat a little bit better than the nighthawk's.

where did you take your safety course? was it all weekend?
do you have any advice for me about how to prepare for the safety course?

We took ours at Anoka Tech, Laura a year after I did. It was a saturday- Sunday, half day each day with a 3 hour classroom on the wednessday before.
I think I still have the materials from the class, other wise there is the pdf here: http://www.motorcyclesafety.state.mn.us/latest/MMSChome.asp?cid=1
You can find the training course there as well, looks like there is one in WBL

The gear is well over half the hotness! My sister, her fiance, and my dad (until he wrecked his bike a couple years ago) all ride motorcycles, and Molly is a certified motorcycle safety instructor. There is NO fooling around without proper gear in our family -- but the gear you can get is SO COOL! Perforated leather jackets so you can feel the breeze in the summer! Jeans made of KEVLAR! Gorgeous helmets and boots that make you want to kick someone's ass!

If I weren't such a wuss (and hadn't just gotten my ass handed to me by my bicycle), I'd totally get a motorcycle. Love 'em.

I not only hate it...I don't want to know about it at all. I can't even think about it.
