this is my clapotis that i am making for robin. the picture doesn't even come close to how pretty this yarn is. it is not so brown as much as grey and purple and blue and red.

thats it!

hey! thats the same kind of yarn from jesss dead hat!

can we barter?

the type of yarn is cherry tree hill in the java colorway. i would recommend she go to a yarn store that carries cherry tree hill and make sure that the colors are the same before buying it online because the dyelots range a lot with this yarn and the colors in my picture are not accurate to what is on my needles.

i was thinking for a completed hat...

ahhh.
do you have pictures of the old one? do you have a concept of how much yarn costs? what sort of thing did you have in mind?

i read that wrong

I thought you said clitoris, indeed you said clapotis. I have no idea what a clapotis is. Is it a baby thing? washcloth? hat?

clapotis is french for "spray and waves". it is a wrap/shawl/scarf
the original pattern is here (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html) (i chose prettier colors than the pattern!

I also wondered what a clapotis is? It's very pretty. How big will it get?

i'm not entirely sure how large it will be. the ones i have seen.....some of them cover the backs of large couches. some are more like scarves like in the pattern pictures on knitty.com. i am hoping for something in between.

i didn't know the word "clapotis"... but the pic looks like a fine start on a bikini bottom... i pretty much ran with it from there. (to a bad place, of course)*grin*

i may need to adopt that word using my new meaning... of course with my attention span... wanna ride a bike?!

I am glad I was not the only one who had the same two observations.

Glad you said that, not me. ;)

pretty!

(though, it looks like a bikini bottom at the moment.) :P

i'm kicking myself for not taking pictures of the two i made.

[identity profile] 2eclipse.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
what kind of yarn did you use?
did you give them away? maybe you can get the current owners to take pictures and send them to you?

it does kinda look like a bikini. but in person it is too big.

[identity profile] dragonintherain.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
for one i used swtc soy something (the stripey one that's fairly new.) the other was out of handspun singles... very tiny neck scarf thing. i did give them both away... perhaps i will catch sight of them this winter. :)

I haven't been on my needles in a while.
Next month at the Ottawa Linux Symposium I think I'll trot out some work for Good Stare Justice. ;)

Oh neat! I'm attempting to make one out of Alchemy Silk Straw right now. I say "attempting" because the Silk Straw is incredibly slippery and I keep messing up.
