so apparently i have localized muscle spasms in my back.
the bad news: they hurt like a little mini-explosion in my shoulder blade.
i-forget-to-breathe kind of hurting.
the good news: it's not terribly serious. it should go away in a few days.
also the doctor set me up with the good drugs.
i can take alleve as an anti-inflamatory and minor pain relief so that i can work and do things.
and then i've got hydrocodone for pain and a muscle relaxant so i can sleep.
i just can't take those and then drive.

the crazy news:
i got full perscriptions for TWO seriously strong pain drugs AND a card for my mother for mother's day for $13 - but my BIRTH CONTROL costs me $35 every month.
some world. it's no wonder the poor have so many babies.

and this is why i love the NHS.

they do charge for many prescription, but some things are free, like:
-presriptions for people under 18
-prescriptions for the unemployed
-prescriptions for certain life-threatening medical conditions (e.g. diabetes)
and prescriptions for birth control.

because it's a bit of a no-brainer to realise it's much cheaper and more sensible to supply birth control to everyone who wants it, even if they could afford it themselves, then to pay for unwanted children, especially as the people most likely to go without are the people who can least afford to and rely more on social services. (and sadly, whose unwanted children are more likely to get involved in crime, drugs etc., which cost society quite a bit of money.)

Reading the big thick books that come with health insurance policies is a trip.

What I love is that some health insurance providers won't cover birth control pills even if it's for something like regulating your cycles because you have polycystic ovaries/endometriosis/etc let alone actual birth control, but they WILL cover ~**drumroll**~

I have to agree with you on birth control vs... Always staggers me to know that if I actually took the painkillers I have about at the rate they want me to, month on supply would be such a fraction of the bc cost.

I mean, I can get narcotics for five, but avoiding pregnancy is.... ?!?!?!
