apparently we're all damaged

the horrors of old school sesame street

i can't begin to say how disgusted i am by this. sure great idea! let's all make the world so PC and bland that our children grow up with only boring ideas, grow up to be boring people and suffer from depression because of lack of stiumulus. great idea. jim henson has got to be turning in his grave.
this is officially time for me to buy the lot and show them to every toddler i can find.

I wish I could be surprised...

It seems the only form of fantasy that is permitted is that which do-gooders ascribe as politically correct. Heaven forbid children see a pipe (not that most don't see an adult here or there actually smoke), find humor in someone that is perpetually grouchy (they will meet enough of them in real life and not know what to do or get their feelings hurt), or believe that anyone who takes an interest in helping kids is anything but a pedophile.

However did we manage to survive without some special interest group trying to protect us from life?

We are buying up Sesame Street Old School and that's the Sesame Street our children will know. The new show is laughable. It's disgusting. And I agree - Henson must be rolling!

I agree. I read the same article. It is totally disgusting I am planning to purchase at least the first two seasons. It was rich, human, and funny for both adults and kids. It fostered tolerance (wasn't that one of the main ideas) for differences and modeled ways to be neighbors with one another..foibles and all. It was like the Hebrew Bible in some ways...earthy and honest. So it is aspiring to be more like Barney? Political correctness is a disaster at times. It also cost us Chief Illiniwek. :(
I am glad you have your phone. Lets try to talk sometime this week. Our trip was unbelievably adventurous...a big storm, rampant seasickness (not us, fortunately), many resultant injuries on board....more to share when we talk.

All I can say is bah.
Heard a little about some of the crap directed at sesame street, and was more irritated than I really feel like delving back into right now. I want to find them for my little one.
